Earth is what we all have in common.

Yet here we are, Putin, Netanyahu, and Trump trying to slice it up as if it were cake, salivating over the potential of real estate and resources. Oh, include Elonia Muskrat, the tech bros, and the oil-igarchs in on the carving of those commodities. Collectively, they have no respect for the planet–and a complete disregard for the people!

Russia, Israel, and now the United States are the bullies of the world. They see people as assets to be exploited in the labor market or liabilities to be eliminated by denying them food, shelter, and access to healthcare.

The Earth will keep spinning until one of these madmen blows it off its axis. Until then, our only hope is solidarity. We must come together, smile at each other, and try to love one another. Right now!

We are the change we seek in the world and the answer to each other’s prayers. Every religion and philosophy has its own version of The Golden Rule: treat others as you’d like to be treated. Think how much better the world would be. We have more in common than not.

How do we start? How do we begin to overcome the darkness that Trump, the dictators, and oligarchs have unleashed? Come on people now. SMILE.

Smile at your brother, your mother, your neighbors, your co-workers with Strength, Mercy, Integrity, Love, and Empathy. It begins with a SMILE.

This is what we must do now, as a nation: move toward the positive. But how? The “how” is always part of the solution. To say “solution” implies we have a problem, and Houston, we do. (Yes, I’m looking at you, Texas. And many of the Republican-governed states who are influencing ALL the states.)

But I skipped right over the “why.” We’ve got two competing belief systems we as citizens are attempting to sort out–and the nation is divided! Contentions are high: Violence is spiking and many people feel threatened. There are so many issues within those belief systems that divide us–issues that effect our everyday lives.

But when it comes to sorting these issues, can we all agree: we’re in it together?

Can we start there?

We’re all on planet Earth together.

Do we all agree on that one point?

If so, let’s move forward. Together. Citizens in Red states. Citizens in Blue states.

If not, let’s back off and look broader: we’re all on planet Earth. “Together” is up for debate with some. But if we can agree on that one point, we’re all on planet Earth, we can agree on others.

Yes, we have many disagreements, but we do have common areas of concern and that’s where we start.

Can we all agree we are human beings? Sacks of skin and bags of bones made alive by the miracle of breath, water and spirit? If so, we can move forward. If not, let’s back up. Can we all agree humans require oxygen and water?

Yes, there is a divide in this nation. Like each other or not, we’re on the planet, the team, and the company roster. We’re part of humanity, in the choir, the club, the band. We’re all at the G– D— party! Can we all agree to that: we’re in this together whether we like it or not? We have more things in common than not and that’s where we must focus our attention.

What if the world focused on what unites us versus what divides us?

Imagine the positive outcomes. Visual a better future. We can do it; we can move forward, together.
